Get Out
You are my hiding place and my shield; I wait for Your word.
Depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God's
commands.
– Psalm 119:115-116
Get out of my house!
That’s exactly what I’d tell anyone who disrespected my family
with foul language or rogue behavior.
Reading this verse reminded me that, often times, not only
do I not push evil away; I treat it as a welcomed guest in my home.
If I’m not careful, I find myself agreeing with the belligerent
political pundit, laughing at the foul mouthed comedian, or sneering with the
hateful movie hero extracting his own brand of vigilante justice.
It is difficult to wait on a word from the Lord when the
majority of time is spent ingesting the world.
Get out of my life, you evil-minded people, for I intend to
obey the commands of my God. – Psalm 119:115 (NLT)
