Quiet Time: All That

All That and a Box of Chocolates

8 Now Cush became the father of Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; therefore it is said, "Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD." 10 the beginning of his kingdom was Babe – Genesis 10:8-10

Every clown loves a stage.

After one of the big NFL playoff games last Sunday a sports commentator interviewed a player who ignored any attempt at modesty in favor of a personal rant on how great he was. I thought, “Well, there’s still one game to go, and that’s the one that counts.”

Humanism (Philosophy) the denial of any power or moral value superior to that of humanity; the rejection of religion in favor of a belief in the advancement of humanity by its own efforts.

Most history books teach that humanism was born during the Renaissance. I think it started after the flood with Nimrod.

Nimrod wasn’t satisfied to be simply a great hunter he wanted to be a great man. Someone the world looked up to and respected, may-be even feared. He soon got his wish but at what price? He is forever known as the king of Babel who called God’s discipline down again on humanity.

When will we learn that God shares His glory with no one (Isa. 42:8)?
