Quiet Time: The First Musician

The First Musician?

His brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.
 – Genesis 4:21

There have been a lot of significant firsts in this world. Just a few from the internet world are: The first email, sent by Ray Tomlinson to himself in 1971, the first domain name ever registered was Symbolics.com on March 15, 1985 and the first website was dedicated to information about the World Wide Web and went live on August 6, 1991. But how would you like to be remembered as the first musician this world has ever known?

Jubal was basically called the “father” of all musicians which just blows me away! Not just because Jubal was the first in a long line of virtuosos, but that Jubal was used to bring something so beautiful into this world in spite of his heritage. You see, Jubal’s great great grandfather was Cain. That’s right, the same Cain who murdered his brother, Able. But, God has a plan and a purpose for each person regardless of who their daddy or grand-daddy is.

“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” is a well-known aphorism that does not need to be true.

God uses who He chooses and He chooses to use us.
